Integration of PhD Candidates into the Scientific Community

The PhD Programme promotes the development of PhD candidates as active members of the scientific community, through internal scientific exchange within the programme and participation in national and international conferences, workshops and training schools, also as presenting authors.

These activities fall within the 8 ECTS per year allocated to elective training activities and are defined in the Individual Training Plan, in agreement with the PhD Board, based on the PhD candidate’s profile and research project.

PhD candidates work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment, alongside other PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and visiting scientists, and actively participate in national and international research projects, fostering networking and scientific collaboration.

Participation in at least one or two international conferences and/or training schools is generally expected during the PhD programme, in coordination with the co-supervisors and, in the case of industrial PhD positions, with the industrial partners, in compliance with any confidentiality requirements.
